The Wesleyan Methodist Church of Anoka, Minnesota,
was organized with seventeen charter members on June 23, 1963, by
Conference President Rev. Donald D. Calhoun. Soon after organizing, the
present church structure was purchased from the Mount Olive Lutheran
Church. The parsonage was constructed behind the church in 1965. Over
the years, Anoka Wesleyan has presented Christ's unconditional love to
the surrounding community through several ministries. Examples include
reaching out to unchurched neighborhood teens and children as well as
the short-term residents at the rehabilitation house across the street
and providing a free meal on Wednesday nights. In 1993, the church
celebrated their 40th anniversary. The Anoka church continues to reach
out. Several members are involved in distributing Bibles across the
Twin Cities and the world.
